Something to take your minds off of 1.8
The role of logistics in Dust has been to support the team through many different ways: uplinks, nanos, rep tool, scans, etc. etc. And since infantry does that in a big way through equipment, why can't a Logi Dropship?
*Disclaimer: Just some equipment I think would be cool to see in the game so don't be too harsh on them*
- Vehicle Nanohives: Rail/Blaster/Missile types
- Vehicle Armor Nanohives: Instead of triage, maybe these could give bonuses to armor repair hp/s? (maybe something like 5-10% faster rep per second)
- Scanner hub: Deployable equipment giving pulsating scans of 50m
- Vehicle Repair Tools: 65/85/105 hp/s but with very short range
- Vehicle Repair Seat: Passengers of this logi dropship would repair at 40hp/s while in the dropship.
- Infantry Nano Spread: 4 nanohive capacity, passengers of the dropship fill the spread by deploying equipment while inside the dropship. The pilot would then have control over when to release the nanohive spread.
- Deployable CRU: 45 capable spawns, 4000 ehp?
Why add Equipment Equipment should be added to make LDS very useful in a support role to infantry and vehicles i.e. the role of a logi dropship. This also gives the pilot a way to earn warpoints so the role of logistics has some incentive. This doesn't mean LDS can't be aggressive, just suited for logistics.
Before you cry "Equipment Spam!" being a good logi dropship pilot would not be easy. All deployable equipment would have to be dropped while hovering at a low altitude to prevent falling damage or destruction of the equipment. This makes the dropship very vulnerable to forge gunners, swarms, and av grenades, not to mention rail tanks.
The LDS could have 1 or 2 equipment slots, and only 1 active type of deployed equipment (1 Blaster Ammo Nanohive not 2). I think it would also be cool if when the LDS lands near a supply depot they could swap equipment that doesn't exceed fitting requirements.
Adding a Repair Seat to the capabilities of the LDS makes it a much more attractive form of transportation and makes become a useful tool for hot pickups, and with TTK changes this could be an awesome form of gameplay to see!!
The Point The point is adding equipment will make an LDS useful to both infantry and vehicles while requiring the LDS to be near the heat of the battle.
Thoughts?

Absolutely! It would bring variety to the dropships on the field. Right now ADS dominate the skies it would be nice to see LDS zipping around the map trying to help infantry or vehicles.

@Awry Maybe LDS could have an option to deploy their side turrets? Imagine a pair of XTs dropping with gunners
@Godin Personally I never really used LLAVs so I wouldn't be able to lead that discussion very well, but I imagine they will return around the same time in a vehicle patch. Equipment for all Logistics vehicles?

The skill bonus for the LDS could be +5% effectiveness to the Repair Seat Equipment
This bonus would be fitting for the LDS transport role because the repair seat would be useful for hot pickups, repairing passengers before hitting the objective again or maybe infiltrating a different objective.
